RomCom Chris

Love is just a word that people say to each other in order to engage in guilt-free sex. I've been heard to say that more than once.

I have also been heard to say that relationships should come with an expiry date of five years. After five years, they're over. Still want to be with the person? Tough, it's over. Just be glad you're leaving on a high note as opposed to the low note the vast majority will be leaving on after their five.

RomCom Chris is the name I've recently earned. It has nothing to do with what they used to hear me say.

Change

Thirty small white pills in a bottle. One side of each has the number 20 on it, the other an indentation down the center.

The prescription says half a day for the first seven, one a day for the rest. No, I'm not sure what I'm to do with that last half either.

The pill in my hand is so small, it seems hard to believe that this will change everything. How I act. How I react. The way I perceive the world. My thoughts. My feelings.

And if all that changes, is the person holding the pill the same as the person who swallowed it?

The B-word and the N-word

Listening to rap music, I was singing along when my partner pointed out to me that when they used the N-word I left a gap in the song, but when they used the B-word I didn't. I continued singing, this time using both the B-word and the N-word, no gaps.

The song ended on the N-word, at which point I looked over at her and smiled. She said, "oh, don't smile, all that proves to me is that you're more sexist than you are racist."
